The sky line in Chartres is dominated by one of the largest gothic cathedrals in Europe.​ This is visible from many miles away, long before the airfield comes into view. People at the aeroclub are friendly but have been critical in the past when English has been used on the French only frequency there. AvGas is available. Parking is on the grass area across the taxiway, opposite the Club offices.



The ETAP hotel in Chartres is poorly positioned for both the city and the airfield. It is a better strategy if planning to spend time in the city to look for hotels there. There however is a Campanile hotel close to the airfield which has the advantage  of being well placed for a swift morning departure.



In the city a visit to the cathedral should be considered . In the area of the cathedral there are bars and restaurants.
