Useful hotel sites
The Accor chain of hotels provide budget and medium range accommodation through their Ibis and Ibis Budget brands. One significant benefit is the no-cost cancellation policy which can be invoked until quite late on the day of arrival (please check the site for confirmation) - it is also important to have booked the room at their flexible/full rate as the cheaper tarriff does not allow cancellation.
Etap Hotels have been rebranded as Ibis Budget. The Etap in Dieppe has been sold and is now trading as the EGG Hotel. It appears to be unchanged and has the same booking and cancellation policies as when it was the Etap/Ibis Budget.
When booking for multiple nights in the same hotel it is a good idea to make a separate reservation for each night. This enables any night to be cancelled without affecting the booking(s) for the other nights(s).
Booking.com and hotels.com have proved to be useful sites for making hotel bookings through with hotels.com having the additional advantage of a loyalty scheme whereby you get a free night for every 10 nights paid. Do take care though to ensure maximum cancellation flexibility when you book.
