Portimao LPPM is situated on the South coast of Portugal approximately 30 nms west of Faro. 

 

It has a hard runway 859 x 30 mtrs orientated 11/29.  We arrived late afternoon and were able to park the aircraft between 2 hangars as strong winds were forecast. 

 

One of our team had an aircraft based at Portimau as they had a house nearby and that may have helped with the welcome we received. 

 

We stayed overnight in the Pestana Defim, a large muti storey hotel and went to the beach nearby for an excellent evening meal.  (RWO 13.7.10).​
