The airfield, known as Mont Real, lies high above the town in a dramatic loop of the River Mosel. The runway is challenging, with windshear on the day of our visit and a downwind landing.

 

Although the airfield was manned by people from the flying club it wasn’t clear if we were meant to be there, as they have rules about visits during the week. However, there was good camaraderie all round and taxis were summoned to take us down into the town to our billet for the night.



The town itself is on both sides of the river but is not remarkable.
